Owasso Police Identify Man Hit, Killed While Walking On Highway

Owasso Police said a man was hit and killed while walking in the road Wednesday morning.

Police said the victim is 33-year-old Carlos Guzman, adding that he worked at an industrial plant in town.

Officers said they have exhausted their efforts to find his family and encourage any relatives to reach out to the police department.

Police said the driver who hit Guzman stayed on the scene and called 911. Officers said that driver is cooperating with investigators and no criminal charges are being pursued right now.

Witnesses told police Guzman was in the road at the time he was hit.

Lt. Nick Boatman describes the area at 76th street north near 71st East Avenue, not far from an elementary school.

"Terrible time out here, lots of traffic. Of course it is well lit down by the industrial park, several miles down it is well lit in Owasso, this is just a zone of a lot of fields, no lighting, no sidewalks, so there is a reason he was walking in the street, but with that much traffic, we can't imagine why,” Boatman said.

Police said based on Guzman's injuries, they think he could have been hit by multiple vehicles.
