A new phone scam is spreading in Muskogee County.

According to the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), users have received phone calls from someone informing them that they missed a court date on December 5, 2021.

The MCSO said the scammer will eventually ask you to make a payment over the phone or through a payment app like CashApp.

The MCSO said it does not call people to request money or inform them of a missed court date.
