Oklahoma Republicans Largely Split Over Need For Additional Gun Control Measures

Oklahoma Republicans are split on whether gun control measures are needed to reduce gun violence, according to a News 9 / News On 6 poll released Thursday.

A sample of likely GOP primary voters in the Sooner State were asked, "Do you AGREE or DISAGREE that ADDITIONAL gun control measures are needed to reduce gun violence in Oklahoma?" While 50.4 percent of Republicans disagreed, 42.9 percent agreed -- and only 6.6 percent were unsure.

For those Republicans in favor of additional gun control measures, they were asked "which measure would you MOST support?"

  1. Assault Rifle Ban - 29.8 percent
  2. Background Checks at Gun Shows - 29.7 percent
  3. Don't know - 17.2 percent
  4. Enforce existing law - 15.8 percent
  5. Red Flag laws - 6 percent
  6. Magazine Limits - 1.5 percent

The margin of error for this poll is plus-or-minus 5.24 percent.
