Authorities police are investigating after human remains were discovered early Thursday morning near Interstate 244.

Police say that around 2:45 a.m. on July 31, officers responding to the area of 1200 East I-244 westbound following a report of a man down.

At the scene officers made contact with Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and City of Tulsa workers who had been inspecting street signs in the area.

A city worker said they saw a shoe near the westbound lanes of I-244 at the Highway 75 split leading to the east leg of the IDL. After looking further, the worker saw human remains and told the OHP trooper.

The OHP trooper confirmed the dead body that was between the barricades.

Tulsa police officers and crime scene investigators responded to the scene.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner is investigating the remains.
