5-Year-Old Hospitalized After Four-Wheeler Wreck In Porum

A five-year-old boy is in the hospital tonight after being in a wreck on a four-wheeler with his older brother. His family said he's already had one surgery and could need more.

Blaze Harris' aunt and brother said he's a funny little five-year-old boy who loves basketball and hanging out with his older brothers. Through this ordeal, they've also learned just how tough he is.

Blaze was riding on a four-wheeler with his 16-year-old brother Rowdy, when they got into a wreck Monday in Porum.

"They had just been riding around, having fun and it just happened out of the blue," his aunt Nancy Carter said.

Carter said they were on a dirt road when they hit the back of a truck that was crossing the road.

"It was so dusty that they couldn't see, and they caught the back end of it," she said.

Nancy said Rowdy had to get stitches on two deep cuts on his legs, and Blaze was flown to a hospital in Tulsa. She said he has severe damage to his right arm and shoulder, as well as scrapes and bruises.

"He had a plate and six screws put into the big bone here in his arm, they're going to have to go in and repair his shoulder,"Carter said.

Carter said he's been sedated most of the time he's been in the hospital, but he is showing just what a fighter he is.

"The nurse asked him to lift up his legs for his mom and he lifted up both ankles, and then squeezed her hand," she said.

Carter said it's been a tough couple of days, and there's a long road ahead. But, they're grateful for the love and support they've felt from their entire community, as well as the doctors and nurses.

"It's just a blessing, it just means so much to my whole family," Carter said.
